William Derrick Fincher

January 20, 1986 — August 25, 2021

Luverne

Mr. William Derrick Fincher, 35, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. A graveside service for Derrick will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 28th, in Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Al Freeman officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Derrick worked for much of his adult life as an automotive mechanic, using skills he learned from a young age from his grandfather. He had a natural gift for being able to repair almost anything he worked on, and he truly enjoyed what he did for a living. He also was very skillful at working with wood and doing his own renovations on his home. In what little time he wasn't working, he enjoyed outdoor activities like fishing. Derrick was generous to a fault, and was always happy to go out of his way to help others. Above all, he cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He was such a dedicated grandson that he eagerly took on the opportunity to become a full-time caregiver to his beloved grandmother, Mamars. Though Derrick has left his loved ones far too soon, they will find comfort in the precious memories they made together throughout the years.

Derrick was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Bobby F. Stephens and William B. Fincher. He is survived by his loving parents, Teresa & William McLeod and Richard & Polly Fincher; siblings, Joshua (Roxie) Fincher, Ashley (David) Terry, and Endsley McLeod; nieces, Maylee Fincher & Lexi Fincher; nephews, Dakota Terry & Charles Terry; great-niece, Akarra; grandmothers, Myrtice Howell, Bobbie B. Smith, and Delores Smith; special friends, Ralph Freeman, Brittany Allen, Lisa Oliver, Corey Blackwell, & Timothy Mason; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Ralph Freeman, Timothy Mason, Corey Blackwell, Jonathan Defee, Ryan Wooten, and Shane Stanwitz.

The family will receive friends on Saturday at Turners Funeral Home from 9 - 10 AM.
