William "Bill" Carl Garney, 69, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, January 5th, 2026. A celebration of Bill's life has not been scheduled at this time.
Bill was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio before moving to Connecticut where he built his first construction company. While he was there, he had the opportunity to work on the home of several famous musicians which also allowed him the prime adventure of getting to enjoy numerous awesome jam sessions along the way. He would eventually return to Columbus, Ohio to start a computer repair business. Bill would still return to construction over and over again throughout his life, as well as a few factories from time to time. In his free time, he loved indulging his passion for air guns, even building some himself and crafting his own pellets.
Bill was a true craftsman and lifelong tinkerer. He loved to indulge his creativity in what he could do or build. He had a love of the outdoors and the kind of work ethic that meant he always found ways to keep himself busy. He was also a friendly and fun kinda guy without a mean bone in his body.....though I'd guarantee you'd rarely meet a more strong-willed guy anywhere around! Eventually, Bill settled down in little Luverne, Alabama for the last 13 years with his beloved life partner and love of his life, Betty Lou, and their two cherished pups, Rambo and Bossy Girl. Together, they thoroughly enjoyed a peaceful life in the country where they had endless camping, exploring on their four-wheelers, and target shooting. Most importantly, they were together and that was all that mattered!
Bill was preceded in death by his beloved canine companions, Rambo & Bossy girl; parents, John Thomas Garney & Donna Jean Sindledecker; and his brother, Thomas Garney. He is survived by the love of his life, Betty Lou Peyton Garney; children, Brandon Garney, Bobby Garney, and Kaylee Sartucci; six grandchildren; siblings, Beth (Jason) Bourekas and Patrick Garney; nieces & nephews, Katy (Kevin) Smith, Erica (Marus) Martin, Gregory (Lindsay) Klaus, Shonna Wetherbee, Tom Wetherbee, and Mikala Wetherbee; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
