William "Bill" Woodrow Rogers, 89, a resident of Montevallo, Alabama and formerly of Highland Home, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 25th, 2024, after a long illness. A graveside service for Bill will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 29th, in Union Cemetery with Scott Massey offering the eulogy and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
Bill was born in Greenville, Alabama but grew up in Honoraville. He was a proud graduate of Highland Home High School. He eventually went into merchandise management for Gayfer's Department Store where he was a dedicated and crucial part of their team for 41 years until his retirement. In his younger days, he used to enjoy recreational activities like his bowling league and golf with friends. Bill was a quiet kind of man, but he truly loved his family with his whole heart. He was a devoted husband, father, and "PaPaw" to three more generations. He will be missed by all of them tremendously, but they will find comfort in the knowledge that he has found the peace he deserved.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, William "Billy" W. Rogers Jr, and parents, William Woodrow & Lena Frances McGough Rogers. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Beverly N. Rogers; son, Norman Rogers; stepson, Scott (Leigh Anne) Massey; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association at https://act.alz.org.
