Ronnie Tidwell, 68, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Walker Baptist Medical Center in Jasper, Alabama on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024. Funeral services for Ronnie will be held at 2 PM at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Neal Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in the cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12 to 2 PM.
Ronnie was a terrifically easygoing kind of man. The kind whose ear was always open whenever you needed to bend it, or you could just relax along the riverbank simply enjoying the peace and quiet together. He had four children who he loved more than life, and they blessed him with his favorite people in the whole world: his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronnie was definitely a devoted "Paw Paw" to all of them, though I'm sure he never spoiled them one bit!!
Ronnie spent most of his professional career as a truck driver, but he also simply had a gift for operating any kind of heavy equipment he needed to over the years. In his free time, you could find him either catching one of his favorite Westerns or some good old NASCAR on TV, or enjoying the best fried chicken around at the Chicken Shack. Above all, he was a truly devoted father, Paw Paw, brother, and uncle who always knew his family was his greatest treasure on earth, and he will be missed more than words could properly convey.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe & Ella Marie Hall Tidwell, and siblings, Tony Tidwell, Sherman Tidwell, Jimmy Tidwell, Donnie Tidwell, Aaron Tidwell, Shirley Tomlin, and Joyce Boothe. He is survived by his loving children, Denise (Ralph) Blakely, Robby Tidwell, Chris Tidwell, and Amber Tidwell; grandchildren, Destiny (Logan) Vanmeter, Dylan Blakely, Michael Chinell, Hailey Tidwell (Colt Steel), Brian Tidwell (Ally Bishop), Tyler Tidwell, Susie Hunter, Arabella Hunter, Daniel Hunter, and Nevaeh Hunter; great-grandchildren, Jaxson Marler, Lilah Vanmeter, Braxton Vanmeter, Wyatt Blakely, Jason Craddock, Isabella Hicks, Noah Tidwell, Talia Tidwell, and Mara Tidwell; siblings, Vickie (Billy) Dobbs, Debbie (Sam) Isaacs, Cline (Sybil) Tidwell, Mark (Sabrina) Tidwell, and Dale (Sissy) Tidwell; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Brian Tidwell, Tyler Tidwell, Colt Steel, Ralph Blakely, Logan Vanmeter, and Rockford Tidwell.
