Mrs. Willoa Allene Stockton Shults, 91, a resident pf Brantley, Crenshaw Co, Alabama passed away unexpectedly in her home on Saturday, September 03, 2022
Mrs. Shults lived quite an adventurous and eventful life. She earned her pilot's license at the tender age of 16 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Education from Chico State University in Chico, California. She join the United States Air Force, where she played the Bassoon and performed with the WAF Band (Women's Air Force). With the band, she traveled all over the country. After 6 months of marriage, she was discharged. She enjoyed building a career as an English teacher in both elementary and secondary schools. As a military spouse, she and her family traveled between Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas and Kadena AFB on Okinawa, Japan. She owned two stores. A Book store in the early 1970;s and a quilt store in the early 1980;s. In her free time, she thoroughly enjoyed her more creative side through quilting and crocheting. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who truly cherished her family and every moment they were able to spend together.
Mrs. Shults is preceded in death by both her husbands, George Edward Potthoff, Jr and Robert William Shults, Jr, her parents William Allen Stockton and Martha Elma Duncan Stockton, her sister Audrey Claire Jones and her husband Lewis Jones, her other sister Wilma Ann Lenz and her husband James August Lenz, and her sister-in-law, Mary Alice Clapper Stockton. She is survived by her children, Nancy Susan Pigg, Willedra Ann (Paul) Garcia, Duncan Arthur (Lori) Potthoff, and Donald Allen (Karen) Potthoff. She has ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Leslie Allen Stockton.
Mrs. Shults' ashes will be interred with her second husband at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.
