Winifred "Wendy" Williams Marks

February 22, 1962 — March 10, 2018

MARKS, Mrs. Winifred “Wendy” Williams, 56, a resident of Helen, Georgia, passed away peacefully at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton on Saturday, March 10, 2018. A graveside service for Wendy will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 17, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Bob Yawn officiating. Wendy had a loving, generous heart, and made friends easily. There was nothing she loved more than her family, followed by tap dancing, Alabama football, her two cats, and her hometown of Luverne. Wendy attended the University of Alabama, and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. Later, she graduated from Southern Institute in Birmingham in Fashion Merchandising. She was in the retail business for many years. After marrying Dave Marks, they made their home in Helen, Georgia where they loved the beauty of the mountains. Wendy was preceded in death by her father, Leo Harold Williams. She is survived by her husband, David Patrick Marks, two stepdaughters, Alyson Marks (Alex) Walker and Jessica Marks, one step-granddaughter, Audry Marks, her loving mother, Helen F. Williams, two brothers, Hal (Nancy) Williams and Ken Williams, and four nieces, Mary Margaret Williams (Josh) Hixon, Daisye Alice Williams, Shelby Kathleen Williams, and Kathryn Gray Williams. Active pallbearers will be Mark Knox, Joey Knox, Merrill Sport, Randy Smyth, Kyle Richburg, and George Browder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to either Crenshaw Christian Academy, 608 Country Club Drive, Luverne, Alabama 36049, or to one’s favorite charity. The family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
